Buying a Gazebo Tent

By: Carports, Tents and Sheds Staff Writers

If you find yourself often looking for a place in the shade outdoors, but don’t want to invest in a permanent or expensive structure such as a wooden gazebo or roll up awning, then you may want to consider buying a gazebo tent.  Gazebo tents are similar in style and structure to a regular gazebo, but they are made from fabric or canvas, so they more closely resemble a tent.  And the best thing about opting for a gazebo tent is the price – you can find gazebo tents for sale for a fraction of what you would pay for a wooden gazebo or a porch awning.

gazebo tentWhen it comes to buying an outdoor gazebo tent, you have a few different options.  You can choose a large gazebo tent that looks like a traditional and stationary gazebo, complete with solid and decorative support rails and an attractive gazebo tent canopy above that takes the place of any more permanent structure, such as one made of wood.  Or, if you are looking for something smaller and easier to put up and take down when needed, you can choose from a wide selection of portable gazebo tents that are smaller, more lightweight and less expensive.  You can even find gazebo party tents for sale or rent, which are great to use when you are having a large party outdoors.

Most outdoor gazebo tents consist of a set of four corner rails (some are decorative and some are not), with a framework structure overhead that supports the gazebo tent canopy (usually made from canvas or weatherproof fabric or vinyl).  A gazebo tent can also include sidewalls or screened in mesh sides to keep bugs out while still letting air and the views from outside in.  A screened gazebo tent allows occupants to really enjoy the outdoors without annoying insects flying around, and so it is a great location for outdoor dining and entertaining.

When buying a gazebo tent, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Supports – Make sure that the support structure is made well and can hold up to constant use and exposure to wind and other elements.  Most support systems for gazebo tents are made from aluminum or metal.  This is the most important part of the gazebo tent because if the support rails or overhead supports fail, you will need to completely replace the tent, as opposed to if the canopy rips or fades, you can just buy a replacement gazebo canopy cover.

Canopy – Of course, you want to choose a gazebo canopy cover that is attractive and fits in with your backyard décor, but you also want to make sure it is made with a quality fabric that will hold up well to sun, rain and wind.  That means it should have a weatherproof coating so it will resist against the growth of mold and mildew, and should also be a fade-resistant fabric.  If your gazebo canopy cover starts to look worn out over time, or rips or fades, you can buy replacement gazebo canopy tent covers to fit over your existing support rail structure so you don’t need to buy a whole new structure.

Price – The cost of a gazebo tent will probably play a price in your purchasing decision, but just keep in mind that you often get what you pay for, so if you’re looking for a cheap gazebo tent, it may look good for awhile, but probably won’t last as long as a more expensive model made with higher quality materials.

A gazebo tent is a great addition to a backyard, whether you are looking for an elegant and beautiful structure to keep up in your yard permanently or a more portable gazebo tent to simply put up whenever the need arises.  Either way, gazebo tents can provide some defined and livable outdoor space to enjoy all year long.
